Brower Entertainment Booking Agency Internship

As of last week, I just finished my internship with Brower Entertainment Booking Agency, an Ohio based company that books talent across the US. My internship was based solely over the internet and phone training sessions. I began by being assigned a band that I would train with. My band was Losanti, a Cincinnati based reggae, rock, funk band who will be playing a show booked by me at the Medici in Normal on Aug. 30th from 9-midnight. Sorry for the shameless plug. Anyway, I learned the process of contacting venues through a website called onlinegigs.com, which lists every available venue in a state. I began with Ohio where I had to contact each venue either by phone or e-mail to secure a booking for my band. Coincidentally, as I began my booking internship, the restaurant that I work for (the Medici) was looking to hire a booking agent. I ended up signing a contract with the restaurant and am now their full time booking agent. As I learned more about booking for a venue, I began reviewing bands on sonicbids, and sifting through submissions to the restaurant. Finally, the last stage of my internship has been to physically go to local venues and offer myself to become their booking agents as well. The best part of this internship was that I was offered a job with Brower Entertainment and will be continuing to work for the company through the school year and when I graduate this spring.

Katie - what a great description of your internship and how terrific that you've been offered to stay on during the semester! It is wonderful that you were able to turn an internship into something a bit bigger - and I'll bet that in turn will help you get something even bigger in the future! Congratulations on a job well done!

Internship at the Castle Theatre

  Hi, my name is Maisy King and I interned at the Castle Theatre this past semester, spring 2023. During the day I worked in the box office selling tickets and a few times I distributed posters for upcoming shows around campus and other surrounding locations .  As the semester progressed, I began to work shows in the evening which was a lot of fun. The first two shows I shadowed Bri for but for the rest I got to do some other things. I got to work box office for shows, which was a lot busier in the evening, but I was als o able to get to learn how to do stagehands and sell the artist's merch for some. All of these aspects were new to me prior to interning here but I found them to be a lot of fun, I learned a lot, and it was interesting to see how different areas of the business and a live show funct ion. I really enjoyed my time here interning at the Castle Theatre and I will definitely use the skills that I learned here in my future career!

Intern at the Castle Theatre

 Hello, my name is Satomi Radostits and I interned at the Castle Theatre this semester. The Castle Theatre is a live music venue that also hosts private events. Working at the Castle allowed me to use the knowledge I've obtained throughout the years and utilize it at this venue. During my time, I worked with Nicole and Jason the most often. I helped mostly in their Box Office, selling tickets during their day hours. This was an easy fit for me, as I had experience already working in a box office. With my prior experience, I found find similarities and differences between the three different types of ticket systems I have worked with, as well as seeing the pros and cons of them all. Apart from that, I also did some marketing work, updating the Bloomington-Normal website with all of the events that the Castle announced.
