My Internships at Sears Centre Arena AND Noble Fool Theatricals
Hey Everyone,
You may remember that I posted blog just before the summer about my internship at Noble Fool Theatricals in St. Charles, IL. It was a great experience; my mentor Audra Sybert was a fantastic educator. She had mapped out an itinerary for me that included various projects for me execute throughout the summer. I wrote several press releases, articles, created advertisements, posters, invites, etc. I was able to refine my writing skills, while tapping into my creative side.
However, before I started my internship there, I started a different internship that I was given just after finals week. When I wasn't at Pheasant Run Resort this summer, I spent my time at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. I worked in the administrative offices with the marketing team, and I also shadowed the Events Coordinaters. I was the very first intern they have had, so I was kind of a guinea pig for them. I was only given a couple of tasks to do independentally, so it was mainly observation. I created a poster with the Coming Attractions that included: TNA Wrestling, College Basketball, Carrie Underwood, Rod Stewart, and Frankie Vallie on Ice.......Sears Centre Arena hosts various entertainment forms of events, so it is always an exciting atmosphere to be in.
I helped security with the Kid Rock concert, I helped the activities coordinater with the USA Men's Volleyball vs. Bulgeria event, and I took suite holders down to meet Charlie Daniels during his concert. I also helped update the Media Contact list for the promotions manager, and I created a book of local restaurants, menus, and necessity/stores for the artists that come to perform to look through when they want to order food or go shopping. It was a pretty exciting summer for me, and everyone I worked with was extremely friendly. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work at both Pheasant Run and Sears Centre, because I was able to experience two entertainment venues that have a similar ultimate goal, but with very different sizes and resources (budgets) to work with that covered both ends of the spectrum. What I have learned encouraged me to work in the administrative offices of a venue/entertainment resort in the future.
